The Central Hindi Directorate (Hindi: केन्द्रीय हिन्दी निदेशालय, romanized: Kendrīya Hindī Nideśālay) is an important government office in New Delhi, India. It works under the Ministry of Education (India). Its main job is to help promote and spread Standard Hindi across the country.
This directorate also makes sure that the Devanagari script, which is used for Hindi, and Hindi spelling are used correctly in India. The Central Hindi Directorate was started on March 1, 1960. This was done following special instructions in Article 351 of the Constitution of India. The directorate has four other offices in different parts of India. These offices are located in Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Kolkata.
