Central committee facts for kids
A Central Committee is like a main leadership group for a political party or a large organization. Think of it as the "board of directors" for a party. Its job is to make important decisions and guide the party, especially when the whole party isn't meeting together.
Members of a Central Committee are usually chosen by delegates (representatives) at a big meeting called a party congress. In countries where a communist party was in charge, the Central Committee made big decisions for the country between these large meetings. It was also usually responsible for choosing an even smaller, very powerful group called the Politburo, which made the most important daily decisions.
Even groups that are not communist have central committees. For example, the Likud party in Israel has one, and so do groups like Alcoholics Anonymous. In the United States, the two main political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, have their own national committees, like the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee. These committees lead their parties at the national level, and there are also local committees for states and counties.

Central Committees in Different Parties
Many political parties and organizations around the world have a Central Committee. These committees help guide the party and make sure its goals are being met.
Communist Parties
