The Cervellati Glacier is a long river of ice found in Antarctica. It stretches about 5 nautical miles (which is about 9.3 kilometers or 5.8 miles) long. This glacier is located in a very cold and icy place called the Ellsworth Mountains, specifically on the east side of the Sentinel Range.
Where is Cervellati Glacier?
Cervellati Glacier is in Ellsworth Land, a part of Antarctica. It flows towards the northeast, moving between two areas called Tyree Ridge and Epperly Ridge. Eventually, it joins another glacier known as Crosswell Glacier, near a place called Mount Bearskin.
How Did It Get Its Name?
This glacier was named in 2006 by a group called US-ACAN (United States Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names). They named it after Roberto Cervellati. He was an important Italian expert who worked with the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). From 1992 to 2006, he helped manage information about places in Antarctica, including a big map project called the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
