Chandra Bahadur Dangi (born November 30, 1939 – died September 3, 2015) was a man from Nepal. He became famous for being the shortest man ever recorded in history. His height was measured at 54.6 centimeters (about 21.5 inches).
Dangi had a rare condition that limited his growth. He broke the record previously held by Gul Mohammed, who was 57 centimeters tall. Dangi lived in a small, remote village in Nepal. He became known to the public when a wood contractor saw him and told the media. In February 2012, his height was officially measured. He was then given the title of the shortest adult human ever recorded by Guinness World Records.
Life Story
Chandra Bahadur Dangi was born on November 30, 1939. Doctors never found out exactly what caused his small size. He lived in a quiet village called Reemkholi. This village was about 400 kilometers (250 miles) from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.
Before he became famous in 2012, Dangi had never left his home village. After being recognized by Guinness World Records, he shared his dream. He said he always wanted to travel and see different parts of his country and the world. He also wanted to use his fame to help people learn more about Nepal.
Meeting Other Record Holders
In 2012, when he was 72 years old, Dangi met Jyoti Amge. She was known as the world's shortest woman, and she was from Nagpur, India. They took a picture together for the 2013 edition of The Guinness Book of Records.
On November 13, 2014, Dangi met another amazing person. This was Sultan Kösen, the world's tallest living man. They met at an event in London as part of Guinness World Records Day. It was a special moment to see the shortest and tallest people in the world together.
