Early Life and School
Sheldon grew up in southern Los Angeles, living in both Compton and Lynwood. His great-grandparents raised him. He spent a lot of time at church, where he played the drums for the choir. Later, Channel Tres left home to study music. He went to Oral Roberts University, a private Christian school in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Music Career
When Channel Tres came back to Los Angeles, a friend from childhood helped him. This friend, 88rising artist August 08, invited him to studio sessions. There, Channel Tres started making beats for other artists. Some of these artists included Duckwrth, Wale, and Kehlani.
In 2018, his song "Controller" became very popular. It was played on BBC Radio 1 and called an "Essential New Tune." An Australian radio station, Triple J, also added "Controller" to their main playlist. They even called it "one of 2018's biggest cult hits." Channel Tres kept finding success. He released his first music collection, an EP, called Channel Tres in 2018. He also released more songs, like "Black Moses," which featured JPEGMAFIA. In 2019, he performed his first headline shows in the United States.
