Charisma josephi, also known as the Joseph's charisma, is a super tiny type of sea snail. It's a mollusk that lives in the ocean, and it belongs to a group called gastropods. This little snail is part of the family called Trochidae, which are often known as "top snails" because of their cone-like shell shape.

What Does Charisma Josephi Look Like?

The shell of the Joseph's charisma is very small, only about 3 millimeters wide. That's like the size of a tiny bead! The shell is quite thick and has a wide opening in the middle, like a belly button, which is called an "umbilicus." It's shaped a bit like a spinning top.

Its color is mostly white, but it's not see-through. It often has light brown spots, like faint freckles. The shell has five whorls, which are the rounded spirals that make up the snail's shell. These whorls have tiny lines spiraling around them. The opening of the shell, called the peristome, is thick and sticks out a bit at the back.

Where Does Charisma Josephi Live?

This small sea snail lives only in Australia. When we say it's "endemic" to Australia, it means you won't find it naturally anywhere else in the world! It lives in the ocean waters off the coasts of South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia.
