What Does the Fountain Look Like?
This fountain is a group of figures. It shows a man talking to a young girl. Several animals are also part of the sculpture. These include an ape, a lion, a monkey, two wolves, and a wolf cub.
The man has a monkey behind him. A lion and a wolf cub are at his feet. The whole sculpture is about 5 feet tall. It is 20 feet wide and 7 feet deep.
The Plaque's Message
Next to the fountain, there is a special plaque. It tells us more about the artwork. How Was the Fountain Made?
Artist Richard Beyer created this memorial fountain. It was officially dedicated on August 1, 1983. The fountain was a gift from Christine Swigert. She gave it to remember her husband, Charles Frederic Swigert Jr.
In 1994, experts checked the fountain. They said it needed some care. This was to keep it looking good for everyone to enjoy.
