Charles Kimbrough (born May 23, 1936) is an American actor. He is most famous for playing Jim Dial, a serious news anchor, on the TV show Murphy Brown. For this role, he was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1990. He is also known for his voice work in Disney movies.

About Charles Kimbrough
Charles Kimbrough was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has a lot of experience acting on stage. In the early 1970s, he was part of a theater group called the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre.
In 1971, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Harry in the musical Company. He also performed in another musical by Stephen Sondheim called Sunday in the Park with George in 1984.
In 1988, Kimbrough joined the cast of the CBS TV show Murphy Brown. He played Jim Dial, a respected news anchor. The show was very popular and ran for ten seasons. Charles Kimbrough was nominated for an Emmy Award for his acting on the show in 1990. He returned to play Jim Dial again for a few episodes in the 2018 revival of Murphy Brown.
Kimbrough studied theater and drama at Indiana University Bloomington. He earned a special degree called a Masters of Fine Arts from Yale University.
Younger audiences might know his voice from Disney's 1996 animated movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He voiced Victor, one of the friendly gargoyles. He also voiced Victor in the sequel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, and in the video game Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
Charles Kimbrough was married to actress Beth Howland. She was known for playing Vera on the TV show Alice. Beth Howland passed away in 2015. Charles Kimbrough's son, John Kimbrough, was a musician who started the band Walt Mink.
