He first played at Merced College from 1978 to 1979. Later, he moved to the University of Maryland. He played for the Maryland Terrapins from 1980 to 1982. Playing college basketball helped him prepare for a professional career.
Playing in the NBA
After his college career, Charles Pittman was ready for the professional leagues. In 1982, he entered the 1982 NBA draft. The Phoenix Suns picked him in the 3rd round. He was the 61st player chosen overall.
He played for the Phoenix Suns from 1982 to 1986. During his time with the Suns, he played in 234 games. He averaged about 14.1 minutes per game. He also scored 4.5 points and grabbed 3.1 rebounds per game.
International Career
