Charlie Heaton (born February 6, 1994) is an English actor and musician. He is best known for playing Jonathan Byers in the popular Netflix science fiction horror show Stranger Things. He has also acted in movies like Marrowbone (2017) and The New Mutants (2020). Before becoming an actor, Charlie played drums in several bands in London.

Early Life and Beginnings
Charlie Heaton was born on February 6, 1994, in Leeds, England. He grew up in a small coastal town called Bridlington with his mother. He has an older sister, Levi Heaton, who is also an actor and a musician.
When Charlie was 16, he moved to London. He played drums in several bands. One of the bands he joined was called Comanechi. He toured with them and they released an album. Later, he also played with a band called Half Loon.
Acting Career
Charlie Heaton did not go to acting school. He started thinking about acting when he worked as an extra in movies and commercials. This helped him earn money while he was also a musician and a bartender.
First Roles and Stranger Things
The year 2015 was very important for Charlie. He got small roles in British TV shows. These included crime dramas like DCI Banks and Vera. He also appeared in the medical drama Casualty.
His first movie role was in the thriller film Shut In (2016). He acted alongside Naomi Watts. He filmed this movie before he was cast in Stranger Things. He also filmed another movie called As You Are in late 2015. This movie was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016.
Charlie's biggest role came when he was cast as Jonathan Byers in the Netflix show Stranger Things. The first season came out in July 2016 and was very popular. The show is still ongoing, with its fourth season released in 2022.
Other Film and TV Projects
In 2017, Charlie had a main role in the horror movie Marrowbone. He also joined the cast of The New Mutants, a movie based on Marvel Comics. In this film, he played the character Samuel "Sam" Guthrie. The movie was filmed in 2017 and released in 2020.
In 2021, Charlie starred in the independent film No Future. He was also part of the cast for the drama The Souvenir Part II.
Personal Life
Charlie Heaton has a son named Archie, who was born in 2014. Since 2016, he has been in a relationship with his Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer. She plays his character's girlfriend, Nancy Wheeler, in the series.
Charlie is a big fan of football. He supports the team Arsenal F.C..
The folk-punk band Skinny Lister wrote a song called "Charlie" about him. This song is on their 2016 album The Devil, the Heart, and the Fight. Charlie was friends with some of the band members when he was a child.
