Charlie Robinson was an American actor who starred in movies and TV shows. He was born on November 9, 1945, and passed away on July 11, 2021. Many people know him best for playing Macintosh "Mac" Robinson, the court clerk, on the popular TV show Night Court. His character was also a Vietnam War veteran.

Becoming an Actor
Early Life and Music
Before becoming a well-known actor, Charlie Robinson was a singer. When he was a teenager, he sang with a group called Archie Bell and the Drells. Later, he also performed with another group called Southern Clouds of Joy.
Starting in Show Business
Charlie Robinson began his acting career in 1971. He appeared in many different films and TV shows. Some of his early movie roles were in Sugar Hill (1974) and The Black Gestapo (1975).
Life on Screen
His Big Role in Night Court
Charlie Robinson became very famous for his role on the NBC sitcom Night Court. He joined the show in 1984, during its second season. He played Mac Robinson, the friendly and helpful court clerk. He stayed on the show until it ended in 1992. He even got to direct three episodes of Night Court himself!
Other TV Shows and Movies
After Night Court, Charlie Robinson continued to act a lot. From 1992 to 1995, he was in the sitcom Love & War. He also had a recurring role as Bud Harper on Home Improvement.

Besides TV and movies, Charlie Robinson loved acting on stage. In 2010, he worked at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He also performed in a play called Fences by August Wilson. In 2013, he played the main character, Willy Loman, in the play Death of a Salesman.
