Early Football Days

Charyl Chappuis started his football journey at his local club, FC Kloten. Soon after, he joined SC YF Juventus to train with their youth teams. In July 2003, a big Swiss team called Grasshopper Club noticed his talent. They signed him up to join their youth program.

Playing for Clubs

Starting at Grasshoppers

Chappuis moved up through the youth ranks at Grasshopper Club. He often played for their reserve team. Even though he trained with the main team, he didn't get to play in official matches for them at first.

Loan Spells: Locarno and Lugano

To get more experience playing in real games, Chappuis was loaned to FC Locarno for the 2011–2012 season. He played his first game for Locarno on July 25, 2011. He even scored his first goal for them on November 20, 2011. After that season, he was loaned out again. This time, he went to FC Lugano for the 2012–2013 season. He played his first game for Lugano on July 14, 2012.

In 2013, Chappuis moved to Thailand to play for Buriram United. He scored his first goal for Buriram against Suphanburi. He also scored a goal in the 2013 AFC Champions League against Jiangsu Sainty. After scoring, he got an injury that kept him from playing for three months. Chappuis scored another goal against Chainat FC on September 8, 2013.

Playing for Suphanburi

After playing for Suphanburi on loan in 2014, Chappuis officially joined them for the 2015 season. He joined other great players like Jakkaphan Pornsai and his former teammates.

However, Chappuis missed the entire 2015 season because of a knee injury. He needed surgery to fix it. This also meant he couldn't play in the 2015 SEA Games Tournament.

After being out for almost 16 months, Chappuis finally returned to play. He came back in a friendly match, and then in a league game on May 8, 2016. He came on as a substitute and helped his team win.

International Football Career

Chappuis played for Switzerland's youth national teams. In 2009, he was part of the Swiss under-17 team. This team won the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup! They beat Nigeria 1–0 in the final. Chappuis played in all seven matches during that tournament.

Later, Chappuis was asked to play for the Thailand national team. He was called up for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification games.

He also played for the Thailand U23 team. He competed in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games. Chappuis won a gold medal at these games with Thailand.

Chappuis also represented Thailand at the 2014 Asian Games. He was a key player for the senior team that won the 2014 AFF Championship. In this tournament, Chappuis scored important goals. He scored a last-minute penalty against Singapore to win 2–1. He also scored against Malaysia in another game. In the final, he scored another penalty. Even though Thailand lost the second leg of the final, they won the championship overall.

In August 2016, after being away from the national team for 20 months due to injury, Chappuis was called back. He joined the team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification matches.
