Chase Simon (born March 11, 1989) is a retired American professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard or small forward. During his career, Simon played for teams in Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Israel, and France. He also played college basketball for two different universities.
Early Life and College Basketball
High School Years
Chase Simon grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He went to Detroit Community High School. There, he was a star player on the basketball team. In his final year, he scored about 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds per game. He helped his team reach the quarter-finals of the state tournament in 2007. Simon was recognized as one of the best players in his class.
Playing in College
Simon started his college basketball journey at Central Michigan University. After his first year, he moved to Detroit Mercy. He had to sit out one season due to transfer rules. In his last year at Detroit, he was a key player. He scored 13.2 points and grabbed 4.3 rebounds per game. Simon finished his college career with 1,386 points. This placed him 17th on the all-time scoring list for the Detroit Titans.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Chase Simon began his professional basketball career. He played for many teams across Europe.
Starting in Lithuania (2012–2013)
Simon was not chosen in the 2012 NBA draft. However, he joined the Chicago Bulls for the NBA Summer League. He then signed his first professional contract with a Greek team, Aris. But he left the team quickly because of their money problems. In October 2012, Simon signed with Šiauliai, a team in Lithuania.
Playing in Poland and Spain (2013–2016)
In 2013, Simon moved to Poland. He signed with Siarka Tarnobrzeg. The next year, in 2014, he joined Anwil Włocławek, another Polish team. While playing for Anwil, he had a career-high game. He scored 30 points in one match. He averaged 16.8 points per game for the season. In 2015, Simon signed with Manresa in Spain.
Time in Israel (2016–2017)
In 2016, Simon moved to Israel. He joined Maccabi Ashdod. He had a great season there. He scored a season-high 29 points in one game. In another game, he made six three-pointers. He was even named the Israeli League Round 27 MVP. Simon finished the season as the fifth-highest scorer in the league. He averaged 17.1 points per game.
Playing in France (2017–2018)
In 2017, Simon signed with JL Bourg in France. He played one season with them. He scored a season-high 23 points in a game in March 2018.
Return to Poland and Final Years (2018–2023)
In 2018, Chase Simon returned to Anwil Włocławek in Poland for a second time. He played there for two more years. In 2020, he signed with JDA Dijon in France. Simon played for JDA Dijon until 2023. He announced his retirement from professional basketball in September 2023. His last season was cut short due to injuries.
Personal Life
Chase Simon was raised by his mother, Denise Simon, in Detroit. His cousin, Randy Brown, also played basketball. Randy played for New Mexico State and later for three NBA teams.
