Where is Chason?
Chason is located in the Florida panhandle. It is about 65 miles west of Tallahassee, Florida, which is Florida's capital city. Chason is also 53 miles south of Dothan, Alabama. And it's 44 miles northeast of Panama City, Florida, a popular beach town.
You can find Chason along State Road 73. It's right where State Road 73 meets County Road 274. This spot is just south of another small community called Willis.
Nature and Outdoors
Chason is a great place for nature lovers. It is very close to the Chipola River. This river is known for its clear waters and beautiful scenery.
The area around Chason also has many ponds. Some of these include Page Pond, White Pond, Burke Pond, and Todd Pond. These ponds add to the natural beauty of the community.
The Florida Trail
The famous Florida Trail goes right through Chason. This trail is a long path for hiking and exploring Florida's natural areas. In Chason, the trail follows County Road 274. It then leads to the Altha trailhead. From there, it continues as a walking path through the Upper Chipola River Water Management Area.
Florida Scrub
The land around Chason is special. It has a large area of what is called Florida Scrub. This is a unique type of habitat. It has sandy soil and specific kinds of plants and animals that are adapted to it.
Community Life
Even though Chason is small, it has a community spirit. The Page Pond Assembly of God church is located here. It is on Murdock Drive and serves as a local gathering place.
Recent Events
In 2018, Chason was directly in the path of Hurricane Michael. This was a very strong storm. It caused a lot of damage to buildings and nature in the area. The community worked hard to recover after the hurricane.
