Luis Crisologo Singson (born June 21, 1941), known as Chavit Singson, is a Filipino businessman and politician. He has served as mayor of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, and as governor of the province of Ilocos Sur for many years. He was also a Deputy National Security Adviser for the Philippine government.

Chavit Singson is a well-known figure in the Philippines. He has been involved in politics and business for a long time. He is famous for his roles as governor of Ilocos Sur and mayor of Narvacan.
Growing Up in Ilocos Sur
Chavit Singson was born on June 21, 1941, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. He is one of seven children of José Singson and Caridad Crisólogo. He went to Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila. There, he earned a degree in Commerce.
Both his father's family (Singson) and his mother's family (Crisologo) have a long history in politics. They have been important in the Ilocos region for many generations. Even though members of both families are related, they sometimes had political differences.
A Key Moment in Philippine Politics
In October 2000, Chavit Singson made important public statements. These statements were about the then-President Joseph Estrada. Singson's revelations helped start large protests against President Estrada. These protests led to Estrada's impeachment and his removal from office in January 2001. This major event is known as the Second EDSA Revolution.
His Journey in Politics
Chavit Singson has had a long political career. He served as governor of Ilocos Sur for several terms. His first term began in 1972. He also served from 1992 to 2001, and again from 2004 to 2007. His most recent term as governor was from 2010 to 2013.
In 2007, he ran for Senator. He was part of the Team Unity group. However, he did not win that election. After losing, he was appointed Deputy National Security Adviser in 2008. From 2019 to 2022, he served as the mayor of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. In 2024, he planned to run for the Senate again. However, he later withdrew his candidacy due to health reasons.
Business Ventures
Chavit Singson is also a successful businessman. He leads a group of companies called LCS Group of Companies. In 2017, his company helped bring the Miss Universe 2016 pageant to the Philippines. They helped raise money for the event.
In 2018, Singson started a new business in the car industry. His company, Legado Motors Inc. (LMI), became the official distributor for GAC Motor vehicles in the Philippines.
Involvement in Sports
Chavit Singson is very involved in sports. He is currently the president of the Philippine National Shooting Association. This group manages shooting sports in the country.
He is also known for his friendship with famous boxer Manny Pacquiao. Singson often joined Pacquiao during his training and fights. He also helped with talks for Pacquiao's big boxing matches.
Personal Life and Hobbies
Chavit Singson was married to Evelyn Singson, who passed away in 2016. They had several children together. One of their sons, Ryan Luis Singson, is also a politician.
Singson enjoys trophy hunting as a hobby. He has collected many animals from his hunts. He later established the Baluarte Zoo in Vigan. This zoo houses many animals, and he also displays taxidermized animals from his collection in the Safari Gallery there. In 2024, he received stem-cell therapy in Japan for his health.
