Luis Crisologo "Chavit" Singson (Tagalog pronunciation: [ˈtʃavɪt ˈsiŋson]; born June 21, 1941) is a Filipino businessman and politician. He has held many important roles in government. He was the mayor of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur from 2019 to 2022.
Mr. Singson also served as the governor of Ilocos Sur province for several terms. His time as governor included periods from 1972 to 1986, 1992 to 2001, 2004 to 2007, and 2010 to 2013. In 2008, he was also the Deputy National Security Adviser for the Philippine government. In 2007, he ran for senator but was not elected.

Early Life and Education
Chavit Singson was born on June 21, 1941, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. He was the second oldest of seven children born to José Singson and Caridad Crisólogo. He went to Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila. There, he earned a degree in Commerce.
His family, both the Singsons and the Crisologos, have been involved in politics in the Ilocos region for many years. Chavit Singson looked up to his uncle, Floro Crisologo, as a mentor.
Political Career Highlights
Chavit Singson has had a long career in Philippine politics. After running for senator in 2007, he was appointed Deputy National Security Adviser in 2008.
He has served as governor of Ilocos Sur for many years. From 2019 to 2022, he was the mayor of Narvacan. He belonged to the local party called Bileg Ti Ilokano.
Mr. Singson has also supported famous boxer Manny Pacquiao. However, they had a disagreement when Pacquiao wanted to increase taxes on tobacco. Singson believed this would harm the tobacco industry, which is important in his home province of Ilocos Sur.
In June 2021, Singson joined the Nationalist People’s Coalition political party. In October 2024, he planned to run for the 2025 Philippine Senate election. However, he withdrew his candidacy in January 2025 due to health reasons.
Business Ventures
Chavit Singson is also a successful businessman. His company, LCS Group of Companies, helped bring the Miss Universe 2016 pageant to the Philippines. The event took place on January 30, 2017. His company helped raise money for the pageant.
In November 2018, Singson started a new business in the car industry. His company, Legado Motors Inc. (LMI), is the official distributor of GAC Motor vehicles in the Philippines.
Involvement in Sports
Mr. Singson is very involved in sports. Since 2018, he has been the president of the Philippine National Shooting Association. This group manages shooting sports in the Philippines.
He is also known for his close ties with professional boxer Manny Pacquiao. Singson often joined Pacquiao during training, press events, and fights. He also helped with talks to arrange a fight for Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather Jr..
Personal Life
Chavit Singson was first married to Evelyn Verzosa Singson. They had seven children together, including Ryan Luis Singson, who is also a politician. Evelyn passed away in March 2016.
Mr. Singson enjoys trophy hunting as a hobby. He created the Baluarte Zoo in Vigan to house his large collection of animals. He also displays taxidermized animals he hunted at the Safari Gallery within Baluarte.
In September 2024, Singson received stem-cell therapy in Japan for his health.
