Chay Hews (born September 30, 1976) is a former Australian soccer player. He played as a Midfielder. Chay Hews had an exciting career playing soccer in many different countries. He played professionally in Australia, England, Japan, and Sweden.
Playing Career Highlights
Chay Hews started his professional soccer journey in Australia. He began playing for the Brisbane Strikers in 1994. This team was part of the National Soccer League (NSL). The NSL was Australia's top soccer league at the time.
In July 1999, Chay decided to try playing overseas. He joined a team called Bellmare Hiratsuka in Japan. He made his first appearance in Japan's top league, the J-League, just one month later.
Later in 1999, Chay returned to Australia. He rejoined his former team, the Brisbane Strikers, in January 2000. He had to wait a little while for official paperwork to clear.
In the middle of 2000, Chay moved to Sweden. He took a short break from playing soccer. By December 2000, he was back with the Brisbane Strikers. He signed a contract to play with them until the end of the 2000-01 NSL season.
In 2001, Chay Hews joined Carlisle United, an English team. They were playing in the Football League Division Three. He played five games for them and scored two goals. He left the team in October of that year.
After his time in England, Chay returned to Sweden. He played for IF Sylvia from 2002 to 2004. Later, he joined Västra Frölunda IF and played there from 2005 to 2008.
Chay then came back to Australia for another long period. He played for the Brisbane Strikers again from 2008 to 2014. In 2015, he played for Rochedale Rovers.
