Chalysa Janee "Chay" Shegog (born February 22, 1990) is an American basketball player. She played as a center. Chay played for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA during the 2012 season.
Before joining the WNBA, Shegog played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels. In 2012, she was chosen as the 21st player in the 2012 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun. Later in 2012, she played for the Hungarian team UNISEAT Gyor. Today, Chay Shegog works as a gym teacher in Fredericksburg.

Early Life and Family
Chay Shegog was born in San Diego, California, on February 22, 1990. Her parents are Theresa and Darnell Shegog. Chay has two brothers named Richard and Anthony.
Her family lived in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, for a while. They moved to Virginia just before Chay started high school.
High School Basketball Career
Chay Shegog was a very talented basketball player in high school. In 2008, she was named a WBCA All-American. This means she was recognized as one of the best high school players in the country.
She played in the 2008 WBCA High School All-America Game. In that game, she scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. She also played in the 2008 McDonald's All-American Game. As a starter for the East Team, she scored 6 points, had 7 rebounds, and made 2 steals.
Chay also played for an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team called the Fairfax Stars. Her team won the 13U national title in 2003. By 2008, Chay Shegog was the all-time leader at Brooke Point High School in several categories. She had the most points (1,692), rebounds, blocks (570), and assists (214) in her school's history.
College Basketball Journey
Many top colleges wanted Chay Shegog to play for them, including Duke and LSU. However, she decided to play for the North Carolina Tar Heels. She played for the Tar Heels for all four years of her college career.
In December 2011, Chay reached a big milestone by scoring her 1000th career point. In early 2012, she was the top scorer in the ACC conference. She averaged 17.3 points per game at that time.
