Cheddars are super popular savoury biscuits from the UK. They taste like delicious Cheddar cheese! These crunchy snacks are made with wheat flour and real cheese. You might know them as McVitie's Mini Cheddars or Jacob's Cheddars, depending on where you live.

What Are Cheddars?
Cheddars are a type of baked biscuit that tastes like Cheddar cheese. They were first made by a company called Crawfords. For a long time, they were sold under the McVitie's brand.
However, since 2014, most Cheddars are now sold under the Jacob's brand. In Ireland, though, you can still find Mini Cheddars as a McVitie's product.
The Story of Mini Cheddars
Mini Cheddars are a smaller, bite-sized version of the original biscuit. They were first introduced by McVitie's between 1984 and 1985. These tiny, cheesy snacks quickly became a favourite!
You can often find Mini Cheddars sold in pubs across the United Kingdom. They are also popular in shops, usually in small packets for one person. Sometimes, you can buy bigger tubs for sharing.

Over the years, many new and exciting flavours of Mini Cheddars have been created. This means there's a taste for almost everyone!

In 2017, three new cheese flavours joined the family:
As of 2019, Jacob's Mini Cheddars offered eight different flavours. These included Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, BBQ, Red Leicester, Blue Stilton, Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack, and Branston Pickle.
Limited Edition and New Varieties
Sometimes, special limited edition flavours are released for a short time. In 2020, these included Nacho cheese & jalapeno, lime and chilli, and chipotle chilli wings.
In 2021, three more new flavours were added: Ploughman's, Blue cheese, and Chilli cheddar. However, these special versions are not available in the UK anymore as of 2023.
Crinkly and Crispy Cheddars
In 2015, a new type of Mini Cheddar was launched called Crinklys. These biscuits are crispier and have a fun crinkled shape. Crinklys came in flavours like Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar, Prawn Cocktail, and Sweet Chili.
Later, in 2017, another new product arrived: Mini Cheddar Crispy Thins. These are even thinner and crispier for a different kind of snack experience.
Bigger Cheddars
You can also find Cheddars Baked Cheese Biscuits. These are a larger version of the biscuit. They are often sold in multipacks, which means you get several smaller bags in one big pack.
These larger Cheddar biscuits are sometimes called 'Giant Mini Cheddars'. They are the bigger version of the popular Mini Cheddars. You can find them in flavours such as Cheddar Cheese, Smoked Cheddar, BBQ, Pepper Jack, and Branston Pickle.
