Cheeseburger in Paradise is a famous song by American singer Jimmy Buffett. It came out in 1978 on his album Son of a Son of a Sailor. The song was also released as a single, which means it was sold on its own. It became very popular, reaching number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This chart lists the most popular songs in the United States. "Cheeseburger in Paradise" is one of Jimmy Buffett's most well-known songs. It was even the first song on his greatest hits album called Songs You Know by Heart.

What the Song is About
The song tells the story of a person who is trying to eat healthier foods like sunflower seeds. But the song was actually inspired by something that happened to Jimmy Buffett himself! He was on a boat trip in the Caribbean and had a small accident. This meant he could only eat canned food and peanut butter for a while.
When he finally reached land, he was so happy to order a cheeseburger! This happened in a place called Road Town on the island of Tortola. Because of this experience, he wrote the song about finding the perfect cheeseburger in a beautiful place. Some other burger restaurants in the Caribbean also claim to be the place that inspired the song.

Cheeseburger Restaurants
Because the song was so popular, Jimmy Buffett's company, Margaritaville Holdings LLC, allowed a restaurant company to use the song's name. In 2002, they started a restaurant chain called Cheeseburger in Paradise. These restaurants had a fun, tropical theme, just like Jimmy Buffett's music.
At one point, there were 38 of these restaurants in 17 different states in the U.S., and even one in Australia. However, by 2018, most of them had closed. Only one restaurant from that chain remained in Secaucus, New Jersey.
You can still find a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" on the menu at Jimmy Buffett's own Margaritaville Cafes. These cafes are in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. Jimmy Buffett's sister, Lucy, also serves a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" at her restaurant, "Lulu's," in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Misheard Words
Sometimes, people hear song lyrics differently than they are sung. This is called a mondegreen.
In "Cheeseburger in Paradise," some people wonder if Jimmy Buffett sings "cheeseburger is Paradise" instead of "cheeseburger in Paradise." On the original record sleeve, it says "is" twice. When he sings it live, it often sounds like "is."
Another common confusion is in the second part of the song. The line is "medium rare with Muenster'd be nice." Many people think he says "mustard" instead of "Muenster" cheese.
