Miguel Porlán Noguera (born October 12, 1961), known as Chendo, is a Spanish former footballer. He played as a right-back. Chendo spent his entire professional career with Real Madrid. He played in 497 official games and won many important titles.

Chendo was also a member of the Spanish national team. He played for his country in two World Cups.

Chendo's Club Career

Chendo was born in Totana, a town in the Region of Murcia, Spain. He played for Real Madrid for 17 seasons. During this time, he helped his team win many championships. These included seven La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, one UEFA Champions League, and two UEFA Cups.

He joined Real Madrid when he was 15 years old. He spent five years in their youth teams. Chendo played his first game for the main team on April 11, 1982. Real Madrid won that game 2–1 against Castellón.

Chendo became a regular starter in the 1983–84 season. This happened when the usual right-back, Juan José, got injured. Even after Juan José returned, Chendo continued to play well. He finished that season as a first-choice player.

In his fourth year, Chendo became the main right-back. He played 25 league matches and 11 European games. At the end of that season, Real Madrid won the UEFA Cup. They beat the Hungarian team Fehérvár. Chendo also helped them win the Copa de la Liga against Atlético Madrid. He started in both of these final matches.

For the next eight seasons, Chendo was a key player for Real Madrid. During this time, the team won five league titles in a row. Later, from 1992 to 1995, he played less often. Other players like Nando and Luis Enrique took his spot. Even though he played in 23 games in the 1995–96 season, he was often a substitute. He became a leader on the bench, supporting his teammates.

Chendo retired from football in May 1998. He was almost 37 years old. His last major achievement was when Real Madrid won their seventh European Cup. This was against Juventus in the 1998 final. After retiring, Chendo immediately started working for Real Madrid. He became a match delegate, a role he has held for over two decades.

Chendo's International Career

Chendo played 26 games for the Spanish national team. These games are called "caps." He represented Spain in two World Cups: in 1986 and 1990. In total, he played five World Cup matches.

His first game for Spain was on January 22, 1986. It was a friendly match against the Soviet Union in Las Palmas.
