Cherikee Red facts for kids
Cherikee Red is a popular brand of cherry-flavored soft drink. It is known for its bright red color and sweet taste. The name "Cherikee" sounds like "Cherokee," which is the name of a famous Native American tribe.
The Story of Cherikee Red
Cherikee Red first appeared in 1969. It was created by the Cotton Club Bottling and Canning Company in Cleveland, Ohio. When it first started, several companies helped bottle and distribute the soda. These included Cotton Club, the A.J. Canfield Company in Chicago, and the Crystal Soda Water Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Another company, Will G Keck Corporation's Laurel Springs Beverage division in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, also helped.
Later, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, a company called D & M Management, Inc. from Davidsville, Pennsylvania, helped spread Cherikee Red. They distributed the soda in parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. As of 2010, the brand is owned by the American Bottling Company. This company is a part of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group, and its main office is in Plano, Texas.
