Cherokee Nation Businesses, LLC (CNB) is a big company based in Catoosa, Oklahoma. It manages many smaller companies. CNB is fully owned by the Cherokee Nation, which is the largest Native American tribe in the United States.

CNB works in many different areas. These include things like airplanes and defense, hotels and fun places, environmental services, construction, computer technology, healthcare, and security.

History of CNB

Cherokee Nation Businesses started on June 16, 2004. It was created to help the Cherokee Nation manage its businesses. CNB's job was to guide all the businesses owned by the Cherokee Nation. It also helped the Nation invest in new companies.

When CNB started, a part of its profits (25%) went back to the Tribal Government. This payment is called a dividend. It helped fund government services for the Cherokee people. Later, this payment increased to 30% of the profits. In 2011, it went up to 35%. The extra 5% was specifically for healthcare services for Cherokee citizens.

Over time, CNB took over other businesses that the Cherokee Nation owned. For example, Cherokee Nation Entertainment (CNE), which runs casinos, joined CNB in 2006. Cherokee Nation Industries (CNI), which makes things, joined in 2008.

CNB also started new divisions. In 2005, it created a group for environmental and construction services. This group helps with things like cleaning up the environment and managing building projects. In 2010, CNB started a Security and Defense Division. This division provides security services and makes electronic parts for the United States Department of Defense.

In 2011, CNB bought a company that supplies healthcare equipment. It also bought two technology companies. These purchases helped CNB grow its healthcare and technology services.

How CNB is Run

The leaders of the Cherokee Nation choose the people who are on CNB's Board of Directors. The Board helps guide the company.

The current CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of CNB is Chuck Garrett. He started in August 2019. He went to the University of Oklahoma and Harvard Law School. Mr. Garrett is also a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

In 2011, CNB made a profit of $91.5 million from $653.5 million in sales.
