Cherylee Martina Houston, born on August 20, 1974, is a talented British actress. She grew up in Morecambe, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom. Many people know her for playing Izzy Armstrong in the popular TV show Coronation Street. She has been in this role since April 2010. Cherylee also voices the character Maz in the BBC Radio 4 series called Tinsel Girl.

Growing Up and Early Acting
Cherylee's parents, Bill and Coral, owned a photography business. She has two older brothers, Lee and Vincent. As a teenager, Cherylee started acting in school plays. Later, she studied acting at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. After she finished her studies at age 23, she learned she had a rare condition. This condition is called Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). It affects the body's connective tissues.
Cherylee's Acting Career
Cherylee began her TV career in 2001. She got a part in the daytime soap opera Doctors. In this show, she played a character with multiple sclerosis. After that, she appeared in many other TV shows. These included The Bill, Holby City, and Emmerdale.
Playing Izzy Armstrong
A big role for Cherylee was in the comedy series Little Britain. She played the girlfriend of Andy Pipkin, a character who used a wheelchair. In 2006, she was a main character named Dorothy in the BBC3 comedy I'm with Stupid. Then, in 2010, she landed the part of Izzy Armstrong in Coronation Street. This is a very well-known role for her.
Voice Acting and Radio Work
Since 2015, Cherylee has played Maz in the BBC Radio 4 drama series Tinsel Girl. This series has had several parts. The stories are partly based on things that have happened in Cherylee's own life. Her character, Maz, also has EDS, which causes dislocations and chronic pain.
Helping Others and Awards
Cherylee Houston is not just an actress. She also works to help people with disabilities. She was given a special award called Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). This award was given to her in 2022 for her work in drama and for helping people with disabilities.
She has been very important in making sure that disabled actors get auditions for shows like Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Cherylee is also involved with a group called Disabled Artists Networking Community (DANC). Through DANC, she helps other disabled artists in their careers.
