Cheshunt railway station is a train station located in the town of Cheshunt, which is in Hertfordshire, England. It's a key stop on the West Anglia Main Line. Train services at Cheshunt are run by two companies: Abellio Greater Anglia and London Overground.
Station Improvements
Over the years, Cheshunt station has seen some important upgrades. A past train company, National Express East Anglia, made a promise to improve the station. They extended the bay platform at Cheshunt. This meant that longer trains, up to 8 coaches, could now use the platform. Before, only trains with up to 6 coaches could fit.
These improvements also included building brand new station buildings. The old ones were replaced with modern facilities. A new footbridge was also built, making it easier and safer for people to cross the tracks. Construction for these changes began in December 2005. Most of the work was finished by August 2006.
Olympic Connection
Cheshunt station played a special role during the 2012 Summer Olympics. It was one of the main ways for visitors to reach an exciting Olympic event. Along with Waltham Cross, the next station south, Cheshunt served as a key entry point.
The event it helped people get to was the Broxbourne whitewater canoe and kayak slalom. This was where athletes competed in thrilling canoe and kayak races on a specially built course.
