Chloe Wise (born 1990) is a Canadian artist. She lives and works in New York City. Chloe Wise creates art using sculpture, drawing, video, and oil painting. She is famous for her fun and unique paintings and sculptures. She often uses food, everyday items, and her friends as inspiration.

In 2014, actor Bobbi Menuez wore one of Wise's sculptures to a Chanel event. It was called "Bagel No. 5." This sculpture looked like a real bagel with cream cheese. It even had a Chanel purse chain and charm. Many people thought it was a real Chanel purse at first! Later, it was revealed that the "bag" was an art piece by Chloe Wise.

Early Life and Education

Chloe Wise was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

She studied at Concordia University. In 2013, she earned a degree in Fine Arts and Art History.

Chloe Wise's Artworks

In 2013, Wise started making a collection of sculptures. These sculptures looked like different kinds of bread. But they also had designer labels, like famous handbags. She made these sculptures from a material called urethane and painted them with oil paints. Then, she added designer charms and straps to make them look like real bags.

One of her first pieces was a play on Louis Vuitton "baguettes." She made a sculpture of a baguette loaf. Then she painted it to look very real. She added straps and a Louis Vuitton charm to it.

Her collection also includes a Prada backpack. This one was made from a sculpted, braided challah loaf. It was titled Ain't No Challah Back Girl. Another famous piece is Bagel No. 5. This sculpture is a bagel with cream cheese. It has a Chanel chain and charm.

Wise had her first big gallery show in Paris, France, in 2017. It was called Of false beaches and butter money. She had two more shows in 2019 in New York and London.

In 2019, a fashion designer named Simon Porte Jacquemus worked with Wise. She helped illustrate his Spring 2019 fashion campaign.

Chloe Wise's first museum exhibition was in 2019. It was at the Herning Museum of Contemporary Art in Denmark. The show was named And Everything Was True.

For her 2021 exhibition, Thank You For The Nice Fire, Wise continued to paint close-up pictures of her friends. She also created amazing paintings of chandeliers and wall lights. These looked like romaine lettuce covered in Caesar dressing. This style is called Trompe-l'œil, which means "trick the eye." Her art was also shown at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.

Artistic Themes

Chloe Wise often uses humor in her art. She explores how we buy things and what we think is healthy. She also looks at how people show themselves to the world. She uses ideas from art history, like the detailed still-life paintings called Pronkstilleven. These inspired some of her sculptures. Through her art, she makes fun of common ideas, but she also includes herself in the joke.
