Choctaw Casino Bingo facts for kids
The Choctaw Casino Bingo was the very first casino built by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. It opened its doors in 1987 in Durant, Oklahoma. This casino was the start of something big for the Choctaw Nation's gaming business. It was the main casino until the much larger Choctaw Casino Resort was built in 2005.
In 1988, people in Oklahoma voted for a new law. This law allowed different types of games of chance in the state. Choctaw Casino Bingo was one of the first places to use this new law. Because of these changes, the casino could offer more games. These included games like slot machines and video games, plus card games such as Blackjack and Poker.
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma owned and ran the Choctaw Casino Bingo. The money earned from the casino helped fund many programs. These programs supported local communities and the Choctaw Nation itself.
A Popular Place to Visit
The Choctaw Casino Bingo and the newer Choctaw Casino Resort together created a big entertainment area. This area became a very popular spot for tourists. People came from Durant, other parts of Oklahoma, and even from places like the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex in North Texas, western Arkansas, and northwestern Louisiana.
Fun and Games Offered
Choctaw Casino Bingo offered many fun things to do. Guests could find entertainment right there. If they needed a place to stay, the nearby Choctaw Casino Resort Hotel had rooms.
