How Cholchol is Governed
As a commune, Cholchol has its own local government. This government is run by a group called the communal council. The leader of the council is called an "alcalde," which is like a mayor. The alcalde is chosen by the people in an election every four years.
The current alcalde of Cholchol is Luis Huirilef Barra. He has been the alcalde since 2012.
