Christine Bath (born on May 13, 1967) is a well-known Australian journalist. She works as a presenter for radio and television news.

Chris Bath currently hosts the Drive show on ABC Radio Sydney. She also presents 10 News Weekend on Network 10. Before this, she hosted Evenings on ABC Radio Sydney from 2017 to 2019. She was also a weekend news presenter for Seven News in Sydney. Chris hosted the TV show Sunday Night on the Seven Network until she left in July 2015.

About Chris Bath's Life

Chris Bath was born in Auburn, a suburb in Sydney, Australia. She grew up in South Wentworthville. Chris went to Holroyd High School.

After high school, she briefly studied at Sydney University. She later worked at a restaurant and then as a trainee manager at Kmart.

In 1997, Chris married composer Denis Carnahan. They had a son in late 2000. Chris and Denis separated in 2008 after ten years of marriage.

In January 2012, Chris married Jim Wilson. Jim is a sports presenter and reporter. They had been together for about four years before getting married.

Chris Bath's Career Journey

Chris Bath started her career in journalism after getting advice from a newspaper columnist. She studied communications at Mitchell College, which is now Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. She even won a scholarship!

While studying, she worked at the campus radio station 2MCE-FM. In 1988, she got her first job as a cadet reporter and newsreader at a Sydney radio station called 2UE.

Early Television Roles

A year later, Chris moved to Albury for her second job. She worked at Prime Television station AMV-4 for 20 months. There, she started as a reporter, then presented the weather, and finally became a full-time newsreader.

In 1991, when she was 23, Chris joined Newcastle's NBN Television. She stayed there for five years as a reporter and host of the local evening news. She left NBN in late 1995 to join the Seven Network in Sydney.

Working at Seven Network

Chris Bath had many different roles at the Seven Network over the years.

From 1996 to early 1997, she co-hosted the 6 AM news. In 1997, she became the host of Face to Face, a political interview show. She also presented Seven's Late News.

In 1998, Chris was a reporter for Witness, a current affairs program. She later presented the Sydney 6 PM news during the summer.

In 1999, she returned to Seven Late News. She also read afternoon news bulletins on a Sydney radio station. Chris was part of Seven's team for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. She even carried the Olympic Torch in Newcastle. She also co-hosted the start of the Opening Ceremony live on stage.

After her son Darcy was born in late 2000, she returned to TV in 2001. She presented Sunday Sunrise for three years. She also presented Sydney's weekend 6 PM news until 2004.

In 2005, Chris was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. She often got the highest scores from the judges. However, she finished second in the competition.

From 2005 to 2009, Chris continued to present various news bulletins for Seven. This included Seven Morning News and the weekend evening news in Sydney.

In January 2009, Chris Bath became the host of Seven's new current affairs program, Sunday Night. In November of that year, she became the main weeknight news anchor for Seven News Sydney.

In July 2012, her husband Jim Wilson joined her as the sports presenter for the 6 PM weeknight news.

In January 2014, Chris continued to present the 6 PM news on Friday and Saturday. She also kept hosting Sunday Night.

In June 2015, it was announced that Chris Bath would leave the Seven Network after 20 years. She wanted to try new things.

Moving to Network 10

In late 2015 and 2016, Chris Bath appeared on Network Ten shows like Studio 10 and The Project. In 2017, she was a regular co-host of The Sunday Project.

In December 2018, it was announced that Chris Bath would join Network 10. She became the presenter for 10 News Weekend.

Working with ABC

Chris Bath worked for ABC Radio from November 2016 until the end of 2019. She hosted Evenings on ABC Radio Sydney across New South Wales and the ACT.

In November 2017, Chris narrated a six-part TV show called Keeping Australia Safe for ABC TV. She also filled in for other hosts on ABC News NSW.

She left ABC Radio at the end of 2019. However, in November 2024, ABC announced that Chris Bath would return to ABC Radio Sydney. She is now hosting the Drive show since January 2025.

Community Involvement

Chris Bath is also involved in community work. In 2004, she helped judge entries for the Walkley Awards for journalism.

She often acts as a host for events, like the Jeans for Genes Day Art Auction. Chris also enjoys giving motivational speeches. In 2003, she played a big part in a youth leadership forum for students in Sydney. She is also a Celebrity Ambassador for the Petrea King Quest for Life Foundation.
