Journalism Career Highlights

Chris Cuomo started his journalism career by appearing on channels like CNBC, MSNBC, and CNN. He discussed social and political topics. He also worked for Fox News, covering many important stories.

When asked about being a journalist, Cuomo once said he didn't care about the title. He focused on reporting facts, not sharing his own opinions. Roger Ailes, a former Fox News chairman, once called Cuomo "fearless" when he was hired.

Working at ABC News

At ABC News, Cuomo was a co-anchor for the show 20/20. He reported on major events like the Haiti earthquake. He also covered important social issues such as child custody, bullying, and homeless teenagers.

One of his investigations led to big changes in how some for-profit schools operated. He also helped recall over 150,000 cars after a tip from a car owner.

From 2006 to 2009, he was the news anchor for Good Morning America. He reported live from many places around the world. He covered the war on terrorism and reported from countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He also covered natural disasters like Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

During his time at ABC, he also had a website called "Cuomo on the Case." He hosted two online shows, The Real Deal and Focus on Faith.

Time at CNN Ends

In 2021, it was reported that Chris Cuomo had given advice to his brother, then-Governor Andrew Cuomo. His brother was facing accusations of misconduct. CNN said that Chris helping his brother was "inappropriate" because it created a conflict of interest for a journalist. Chris later apologized, saying it was a "mistake."

Later, documents showed that Chris had used his media connections to gather information related to the accusations against his brother. He also helped his brother's team with statements. Because of this, CNN suspended him. After an internal review, CNN ended his employment in December 2021.
