Chris Eagles (born 19 November 1985) is a former English football player. He was known for playing as a winger, which is a player who mainly plays on the sides of the field.

Chris started his football journey in the youth team at Watford. Later, he joined Manchester United as a professional. Even though he played 17 times for United, he didn't become a regular first-team player. He also spent time on loan at other clubs like Watford, Sheffield Wednesday, and the Dutch team NEC Nijmegen.

In 2008, Chris moved to Burnley for £1.2 million. He played there for three seasons and helped them get promoted to the Premier League in 2009. After Burnley, he joined Bolton Wanderers in 2011, staying for another three seasons. He then played for several other teams, including Blackpool, Charlton Athletic, Bury, Accrington Stanley, Port Vale, and Ross County. His last club was Oldham Athletic, which he joined in 2019.

Chris Eagles' Football Journey

Chris Eagles was born in Hemel Hempstead, England. When he was young, he loved watching Tottenham Hotspur with his family. He started playing football in the youth system at Watford.

When he was 14, Chris moved to the Manchester United academy. This was a big step for his career.

Playing for Manchester United

Chris made his first team debut for Manchester United on 28 October 2003. This was in a League Cup game against Leeds United. He came on as a substitute. He also played in the 2004 FA Community Shield match.

Loan Spells and First Goals

In January 2005, Chris was loaned to Watford. He scored his first senior goal for them in a 2–0 win against Gillingham. He played 13 games for Watford.

Later in 2005, he was loaned to Sheffield Wednesday. His manager, Paul Sturrock, said that Sir Alex Ferguson wanted Chris to play in front of big crowds. He scored three goals in 25 games for Sheffield Wednesday.

In January 2006, Chris returned to Watford for another loan. He scored an amazing goal from about 50 yards (almost half the field) against Brighton & Hove Albion. This goal won the club's "Goal of the Season" award. Watford got promoted to the Premier League that year, and Chris was part of the team.

In 2006, Chris also spent four months on loan at NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands to get more experience. He returned to Manchester United in December.

On 28 April 2007, Chris scored his first goal for Manchester United. It was in a 4–2 win against Everton. This goal helped United get closer to winning the Premier League title.

In July 2008, Chris Eagles joined Burnley on a three-year contract. The fee was reported to be around £1.2 million. His manager, Owen Coyle, said Chris was a "talented footballer" who could play in many different positions.

Chris played his first league game for Burnley on 9 August. He scored his first goal for the club on 27 September in a 3–1 win against Preston North End. In the 2008–09 season, he scored eight goals in 57 games. He helped Burnley win the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium, which meant they were promoted to the Premier League.

In the 2009–10 season, Chris scored two goals in 34 Premier League games. Burnley was relegated that season. In 2010, he signed a new contract with Burnley. He had a great season in 2010–11, scoring 15 goals in 48 games.

Moving to Bolton Wanderers

In July 2011, Chris Eagles joined Bolton Wanderers with his teammate Tyrone Mears. They signed a three-year contract. He was reunited with his former manager, Owen Coyle.

Chris made his debut for Bolton on 13 August. He scored his first goal for them on 20 September in a League Cup game against Aston Villa. He also scored two goals in a big 5–0 win against Stoke City. At the end of that season, Bolton was relegated to the Championship.

In the 2012–13 season, Chris was Bolton's top goalscorer with twelve goals. He also made the most assists, with twelve. He played 18 games in the 2013–14 season and left the club in May 2014.

Later Career Clubs

Chris joined Blackpool in November 2014 for a short time. He played seven games for them. In February 2015, he signed for Charlton Athletic. He scored in his first game for Charlton, helping them win 3–0 against Wigan Athletic.

After Charlton, Chris had trials with other clubs before joining Bury in October 2015. He later moved to Accrington Stanley in August 2016.

In January 2017, Chris joined Port Vale. He scored important goals for them, including one that won him the club's "Goal of the Season" award. He left Port Vale at the end of the season.

On 23 November 2017, Chris signed for Ross County in Scotland, playing under his former manager Owen Coyle again. He left Ross County in April 2018.

After being a free agent for 15 months, Chris returned to football in July 2019, signing with Oldham Athletic. He left the club in January 2020.

In November 2021, Chris played in a charity football match for Bolton Wanderers Legends. He scored two goals in the game, which helped raise money for a good cause.
