Chris Williams (July 9, 1980 – March 15, 2017) was an American professional basketball player. He was a talented player who stood about 6 feet, 6 inches tall. Chris played as a small forward during his career.

Chris Williams' College Basketball Career
Chris Williams played college basketball for the University of Virginia. He was part of their team, the Virginia Cavaliers. In 1999, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year. This award goes to the best new player in the ACC conference.
He was also recognized as one of the top players in the ACC. He made the Second Team All-ACC in 2000. He was also on the Third Team All-ACC in both 1999 and 2001. During his college days, people often called him "Big Smooth."
Chris Williams' Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Chris Williams played basketball all over the world. He started his professional career in 2002 and played until 2013.
Playing in Europe and Asia
In the 2004–05 season, Chris played for the Skyliners Frankfurt team in Germany. He was amazing at stealing the ball, leading the EuroLeague with 2.8 steals per game. He helped Frankfurt win the German BBL championship in 2004.
From 2005 to 2007, Chris played in South Korea for Ulsan Mobis Phoebus. He also played in China for Qingdao DoubleStar and in Iran for Mahram Tehran.
Success in Australia
Before playing in Europe, Chris was a key player for the Sydney Kings in Australia. He helped the Kings win their very first championship in the NBL. Chris was a top scorer and rebounder for the team.
He was so good that he won two big awards in Australia in 2003:
- The MVP of the league
- The MVP of the league's final game
A Rare Achievement: The Quadruple-Double
On December 25, 2009, Chris Williams did something very special while playing for Qingdao DoubleStar in China. In a game against the Dongguan Leopards, he achieved a Quadruple-double. This means he had double-digit numbers in four different stats:
- 15 points
- 11 rebounds
- 11 assists
- 11 steals
This was only the second time in the history of the CBA that a player achieved a quadruple-double. His team, Qingdao, won the game 122–103.
Honored by the Sydney Kings
On October 10, 2013, the Sydney Kings honored Chris Williams. They named him to their 25th Anniversary Team. This shows how important he was to the team's history.
