Christian Cook (born June 3, 1975) is a retired professional lacrosse player from Denver, Colorado. He was a talented defenseman, known for his strong defensive skills. He played professional field lacrosse for the Washington Bayhawks in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) league.

Before turning pro, Christian Cook was a star player for the Princeton Tigers men's lacrosse team from 1995 to 1998. During his college career, he won many awards. These included the top NCAA lacrosse defenseman award and two United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American honors. He also helped his team win four Ivy League championships and three national championships.

As a professional, he was named the Major League Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year. He also played for Team USA in the World Lacrosse Championships. Cook was chosen for the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game twice. He was also part of an MLL team that won the Steinfeld Cup championship.

Early Life and High School

Christian Cook grew up in Denver, Colorado. He was a very good lacrosse player from a young age. In high school, he was named an All-American lacrosse player. He attended Denver East High School.

Christian Cook was a key player for the Princeton University lacrosse team. He was the main defender for teams that won many games. These teams had amazing offensive players like Jesse Hubbard, Jon Hess, and Chris Massey.

In 1998, Cook received the Schmeisser Award. This award is given to the best NCAA lacrosse defenseman. He was named a first-team USILA All-American Team in 1998. He was also a third-team selection in 1997. Being an All-American means he was one of the best college players in the country.

His Princeton teams were very successful. The 1995 team shared the Ivy League championship. The teams from 1996 to 1998 were even better. They won the Ivy League championship every year without losing a single conference game. These teams also won the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in 1996, 1997, and 1998. This was a rare achievement, as they were the first team to win three championships in a row since 1990.

In his senior year (1998), Cook was a co-captain of the team. He was known for his incredible defense. In one game, he stopped the Ivy League's top scorer, Mike Ferrucci from Harvard, from scoring any goals. In the 1998 NCAA tournament semifinals, he also held Casey Powell of Syracuse, the nation's leading scorer, to zero goals. Princeton won that game 11-10. Even though he got injured and couldn't play in the finals, he was still named to the All-tournament team. Christian Cook was later named to Princeton's All-Decade team.

Professional Lacrosse Career

Christian Cook started his professional career with the New Jersey Pride. He played for them from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, he was traded to the Baltimore Bayhawks. He played for the Bayhawks from 2004 to 2006.

The Bayhawks team later changed its name to the Washington Bayhawks. Cook continued to play for them in 2007 and 2008. In 2005, he helped the Bayhawks win the Steinfeld Cup. This is the championship trophy for Major League Lacrosse. He was also selected twice to play in the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game.

In 2006, Cook missed four games of the MLL season. This was because he was playing for Team USA in the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships. He was one of four players from Princeton University on that team.

Life After Lacrosse

After retiring from lacrosse, Christian Cook has worked in different fields. He has worked for the United States Secret Service, the American Enterprise Institute, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

He was also a talented skier when he was younger. He competed in the AAU Junior Olympic Games in skiing in 1990. In 2003, Christian Cook was honored by being named to the Colorado Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Christian's sister, Lauren, also played lacrosse at Davidson College. Their parents are Gary and Diane Cook. Christian earned his college degree in Politics from Princeton University. He later received his Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University. Christian and Lauren have started a program called "Play for Parkinson's Lacrosse." They did this after their mother was diagnosed with early stage Parkinson's disease.
