Christian Santos's Football Journey
Starting Out in Germany
Christian Santos was born in Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela. When he was six years old, his family moved to Germany because his dad got a new job there. He started playing football at a club called SV Lippstadt.
In 2003, he joined Arminia Bielefeld. He played for their reserve team, Arminia Bielefeld II, for the first time on May 6, 2007. He came into the game as a late substitute. Christian scored his first goal as a senior player on April 1, 2009. He played for Arminia Bielefeld until 2011.
Playing in Belgium
In August 2011, Christian Santos moved to Belgium and joined KAS Eupen. He played in the Belgian Second Division. He had a great first season, scoring 15 goals. In his second season, he scored 10 more goals.
In April 2013, Christian joined Waasland-Beveren, a club in the Belgian Pro League. However, he couldn't play any games for them because he had a serious knee injury.
Success with NEC in the Netherlands
In July 2014, Christian Santos signed a one-year contract with a Dutch team called NEC Nijmegen. He had impressed them during a trial. He played his first professional game for them on August 10, starting in a 3–1 win.
Christian scored his first professional goal on August 15, 2014. He ended the 2014–15 season with 23 goals in 34 games. His team, NEC, won the Eerste Divisie championship and moved up to the top league, the Eredivisie. He scored two goals in several games that season, which is called a "brace."
He made his debut in the Eredivisie on August 12, 2015. On September 18, he scored both goals for his team in a 2–0 win. He scored two goals in other games too, finishing the season with 16 goals in 30 matches.
Moving to Spain and Chile
On July 12, 2016, Christian Santos joined Deportivo Alavés in La Liga, Spain's top football league. He played his first game for them on August 21.
In June 2018, he signed a two-year deal with Deportivo de La Coruña. He scored his first goal for them on October 1, 2018, just one minute after coming into the game. He scored important goals for the team in January and August 2019.
In September 2020, Christian went back to Germany to play for VfL Osnabrück. A year later, in September 2021, he moved to Chile to play for Colo-Colo. He played 13 games and scored one goal before leaving the club in June 2022.
Recent Club Teams
Christian Santos continued his career by joining Juve Stabia in Italy in October 2022. He played for them until the end of the 2022–23 season.
In February 2023, he moved back to Spain to play for Unionistas. In September 2024, he joined Rayo Majadahonda on a one-year deal. As of 2025, he is playing for Anzoátegui.
Christian Santos's International Career
Christian Santos was allowed to play for the Venezuela national football team in January 2015. He played his first international game on March 27, 2015, in a friendly match against Jamaica.
He scored his first goal for Venezuela on October 13, 2015. This goal was during a qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Brazil.
Christian was also part of Venezuela's team for the Copa America Centenario tournament in 2016. He played one game in that tournament, which was a 1–1 draw against Mexico on June 13, 2016.
