History of Juve Stabia

How Football Started in Castellammare

Early Days: Stabia S.C. and A.C. Stabia

The story of football in Castellammare di Stabia began on 19 March 1907. A group of people, including Weiss, the Romano brothers, and Pauzano, started a club called Stabia Sporting Club.

In 1930, the club changed its name to F.C. Stabiese. However, in the summer of 1933, the club faced serious money problems and had to close down.

After that, in 1933, a new club was started by Salvatore Russo. It was named A.C. Stabia. This team even played in Serie B during the 1951–52 season. But just like the previous club, A.C. Stabia also went bankrupt in 1953.

A New Start: S.S. Juventus Stabia

In 1953, another football club in the town, called Società Sportiva Juventus Stabia, became the main team. This club was founded in 1945. It took over the football traditions of the older clubs.

However, in 2001, this club also faced financial difficulties and declared bankruptcy.

From Comprensorio Stabia to S.S. Juve Stabia

In the summer of 2002, a businessman named Paolo D'Arco bought the sports rights for a team in Serie D. He quickly renamed it Comprensorio Stabia.

Then, in the summer of 2003, the club got its current name: S.S. Juve Stabia. That same season, they were promoted to Serie C2. The very next year, they moved up again to Serie C1.

In the 2008–09 season, Juve Stabia was moved down to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. But they quickly bounced back and were promoted again the next season.

A big moment came in the 2010–11 season. Juve Stabia was promoted to Serie B! This was a huge achievement, as they hadn't been in Italy's second division for 59 years. They played in Serie B for three seasons in a row before being relegated in 2013–14.
