Christian Zervos was born in Argostoli, Cefalonia, Greece. He later moved to Paris, France. He became a very important person in the art world. He helped people understand and appreciate modern art, as well as ancient art.

His Famous Magazine

In 1926, Zervos started a famous art magazine called Cahiers d'art. This magazine was published in Paris until 1960. It was a very important place for artists and art lovers to learn about new ideas. He also ran his own art gallery, showing new and exciting artworks.

Books He Wrote

Christian Zervos was very knowledgeable about different types of art. He wrote many books, sharing his expertise. Some of his most important books include:

  • The Art of Crete: This book explored the ancient art from the island of Crete.

A Museum in His Honor

Because of his important work, a museum was created in his honor. The Zervos Museum was set up in Vézelay, France. It was ordered by M. Christian Durquet, who was in charge of preserving important cultural items at the Musée de l'Art Contemporain (Museum of Contemporary Art).
