Christopher Wynyard Allen (born 7 May 1944 – died 18 October 2012) was an English cricketer. He was known for his skills as a right-handed batsman. He also bowled slow left-arm orthodox, which is a type of bowling where the ball spins from left to right for a right-handed batsman. Christopher Allen was born in Southampton, a city in Hampshire, England.

Christopher Allen's Cricket Journey
Christopher Allen moved to Lymington, Hampshire, in 1964. His parents took over a local pub there. Soon after moving, he started playing cricket for Lymington Cricket Club. At first, he was encouraged to be a seam bowler. This type of bowler makes the ball move sideways off the seam.
Discovering His Bowling Style
While practicing at the County Ground, Southampton, Christopher Allen was bowling slow left-arm orthodox. This is when Arthur Holt, a well-known sportsman, noticed him. Arthur Holt encouraged Christopher to keep using this unique bowling style. Christopher's talent in club cricket for Lymington quickly became clear.
Playing for Dorset County
After impressing in local games, Christopher Allen briefly played for the Hampshire Second XI. He then joined Dorset to play minor counties cricket. He made his first appearance for Dorset in 1976. This game was part of the Minor Counties Championship against Cornwall.
A Key Player for Dorset
From 1976 to 1983, Christopher Allen played in 66 Minor Counties Championship matches for Dorset. His last game in this competition was against Shropshire. He also played one match in the 1983 MCCA Knockout Trophy against Oxfordshire. During his time with Dorset, he took an impressive 252 wickets.
His Only List A Match
Christopher Allen also played one List A match for Dorset. This was in the 1983 NatWest Trophy against first-class team Essex. The game took place at Dean Park, Bournemouth. In that match, Dorset scored 111 runs in total. Christopher Allen scored 7 runs before being dismissed. When Essex batted, he bowled 6 overs but did not take any wickets. He did, however, catch out Keith Fletcher. Essex won the match by 7 wickets.
