Christopher Young (born April 28, 1958) is an American composer. This means he writes music, especially for movies and TV shows. He is known for creating exciting and sometimes scary music that helps tell the story in films.
He has composed music for many popular movies, especially in the horror and thriller genres. Some of his well-known works include Hellraiser, Species, The Grudge, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Drag Me to Hell, and Sinister. He also wrote music for other types of movies like Spider-Man 3 and The Shipping News, which earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.
In 2008, Christopher Young received the special Richard H. Kirk award at the BMI Film and TV Awards. This award is given each year to a composer who has made a big difference in music for movies and television.

Early Life and Learning
Christopher Young was born in Red Bank, New Jersey, in the United States. He went to Hampshire College in Massachusetts and earned a degree in music. After that, he continued his studies at the University of North Texas.
His Career Journey
In 1980, Christopher Young moved to Los Angeles, California, to start his career. He first played the drums in jazz music. But when he heard the music of another famous film composer named Bernard Herrmann, he decided he wanted to write music for movies too.
He studied at the UCLA Film School to learn more about film music. Today, he also teaches music at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, sharing his knowledge with new composers.
