Chuck Treece (born May 30, 1964) is an American musician and professional skateboarder. He is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1984, he became famous for being the first African-American skateboarder. He was featured on the cover of Thrasher magazine.
Chuck Treece has many musical achievements. He started the 1980s skate punk band McRad. He has also remixed songs for famous artists like Amy Grant and Sting. He played bass on "The River of Dreams" by Billy Joel. He even played drums at a Pearl Jam concert. Chuck has toured with bands like Urge Overkill, Underdog, and Bad Brains. In 2010, he received a Pew Fellowships in the Arts award. Today, Chuck plays bass in a thrash metal band called ACTiVATE. He also played drums on the album Mass by the Canadian ska band, Bedouin Soundclash.

Life and Career
Chuck Treece grew up in Newark, Delaware. He went to John Dickinson High School. In 1982, he moved to Philadelphia. He said he wanted to focus on music and skating.
Professional Skater
From 1982 to 1990, Chuck was a professional skateboarder. He had sponsors from big companies. These included Santa Cruz Skateboards, Powell-Peralta, and Airwalk sneakers. He still skates at FDR Skatepark in Philadelphia.

Chuck Treece has been involved in many music projects.
McRad and Early Music
He released two albums with his band McRad. These were Absence of Sanity (first released in the 1980s) and FDR (released in 2007). Chuck called McRad a "skate rock" band. This was because he and other band members were active skaters. He also played guitar with the New York hardcore band Underdog. He recorded on their 1989 album "Vanishing Point". In 1991, he released his own solo album. It was called Dream'n on Caroline Records.
Stiffed and Santigold
Starting in 2001, Chuck was a founding member of the Philadelphia punk band Stiffed. This band helped start the solo career of Santi White. She is known as Santigold. She became a very popular singer. Santigold has said that Chuck was the person who encouraged her to sing.
Recent Collaborations
Chuck Treece has continued to work with many musicians. He recorded drum tracks for The Movement's 2008 album Set Sail. After this, other McRad members joined The Movement. Chuck also works closely with famous producer Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo.
In 2010, Chuck joined the Philly/NYC punk band Plastic Eaters. He became their drummer. In 2014, he continued his musical connection with HR. HR is the singer of the legendary band Bad Brains. Chuck wrote and recorded new songs with HR. He also performed live on drums with HR and the band I Yahn I Arkestra.
In January 2016, Chuck played guitar with the DC hardcore group Scream. This was at a benefit show in Washington DC.
Punkadelic
In 2022, Chuck Treece and Michael Hampton formed a new band. It is called Punkadelic. This group mixes funk and punk music. Michael Hampton plays guitar, and Chuck Treece plays bass and drums. Punkadelic performs their own songs and covers of Funkadelic songs. They have played in Philadelphia and Mexico. They also played live on the radio. In 2023, Punkadelic released two singles and an EP called Collective Consciousness.
