The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Faido is a unique church located in the village of Faido. This village is part of Peñacerrada-Urizaharra in the Basque Country, Spain. What makes this church so special is that it is partly built inside an artificial cave!
A Special Place
This church is very important because it was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1984. This means it's a protected historical site in Spain. Later, in 2003, the Basque Government also recognized it as a Monument. This shows how much its history and architecture are valued.
Built into a Cave
The most amazing thing about the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Peña is its connection to a cave. Part of the church is actually inside a cave that was made by people. This unique design makes it a fascinating place to visit and learn about. It's not every day you see a church built right into the rock!
