The Church of Santa Eulalia de la Lloraza (which is Iglesia de Santa Eulalia de la Lloraza in Spanish) is a beautiful old church. It is built in the Romanesque style. The Church's Story

The exact beginning of this church is not completely clear. Some people believe it might have been started by a person with leprosy. This person was traveling on the Camino de Santiago route, which passed through this area.

Another idea is that Queen Berengaria of Castile helped pay for it. She was the wife of King Alfonso IX of León.

The church you see today was mostly built in the 1200s. It has been repaired many times since then. For example, it was damaged during the Spanish Civil War. After that, it was fixed up in 1950 by an architect named Luis Menéndez Pidal y Alvarez.

What the Church Looks Like

The Church of Santa Eulalia de la Lloraza has a main hall called a nave. It also has a square-shaped area at the end called an apse. The nave is big enough to hold about 400 people.

The church has parts from different time periods. This is because it has been repaired and updated many times over the years.

The two main entrances of the church are very old. They were built when the church was first made. These entrances have many beautiful Romanesque decorations.
