A Look Inside the Church
Family History and Special Features
For about 300 years, the Church of St Michael and All Angels was the burial place for the Devereux family. Their large estate, called Nantcribba, is also located within this church's parish area. This shows how important the church was to local families.
One special item inside the church is its beautiful marble font. A font is a basin used for baptisms, which are ceremonies where people are welcomed into the Christian faith. This particular font is oval-shaped. It was given to the church in 1794 by a person named Richard Edmunds.
Building Changes and Art
The church building itself has changed over time. It was made larger in 1830 to create more space for the growing community. The person who designed these changes was an architect named Thomas Nicholson.
The church also features stunning stained glass windows. These windows are like colorful puzzles made of glass that tell stories or show pictures. The designs for these particular stained glass windows were created by a famous artist named Edward Burne-Jones. His work adds a lot of beauty to the church.
