The Church of the Sagrario (in Spanish: Iglesia del Sagrario) is a special church building. It is attached to the north side of the Jaén Cathedral in Spain. This church was built because of damage caused by a big earthquake. This earthquake happened in 1755.
Building the Church of the Sagrario
The plan for this church was created by a famous architect named Ventura Rodríguez. He designed it in 1764. However, his nephew, Manuel Martín Rodríguez, was the one who actually built it.
A New Beginning for the Church
Construction of the church began in 1764. It took many years to complete. The Church of the Sagrario was finally finished in 1801. It was officially opened and blessed on March 22, 1801.
