Clarisa Rut Hardy Raskovan, born on December 15, 1945, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a very important person in Chile. She is a psychologist, an anthropologist (someone who studies human societies and cultures), a writer, and a politician. She served as the Minister for Social Development and Planning during the first time Michelle Bachelet was president of Chile.

Who is Clarisa Hardy?
Clarisa Hardy was born in Argentina into a Jewish family. Her family had to leave their home to escape the Nazis, who were a very bad group that caused a lot of harm. When Clarisa was five years old, her family moved to Chile. Her father, Boris Hardy, was a filmmaker.
Early Life and Education
Clarisa went to the Scuola Italiana in Santiago, Chile. She then studied psychology at the University of Chile. Later, she went to the University of Oxford in England. There, she earned a master's degree in social anthropology, which is about understanding how people live and interact in different societies.
A Career in Public Service
Clarisa Hardy has dedicated much of her life to public service and helping others. Her work has focused on social issues and improving people's lives.
Working for the Government
In 1972, Clarisa started her first job in public service. She became the Human Resources Manager for a state-owned company called CORFO (Corporación de Fomento de la Producción). This company helps develop industries in Chile.
In 1974, Clarisa left Chile and went to Mexico. She taught at the School of Psychology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. From 1982 to 1983, she worked as a researcher for a group called the Center for Social and Economic Studies of the Third World (Ceestem) in Mexico.
At the end of 1983, she returned to Chile. She started working on social issues for the government. In 1990, she became the head of the Social Affairs Department in the Ministry for Social Development and Planning. Later, she was chosen to be the Executive Secretary for a special committee that worked on social affairs across different government ministries.
In 2006, President Michelle Bachelet appointed Clarisa Hardy as the Minister for Social Development and Planning. This was a very important job where she helped create plans to improve social well-being for people in Chile. She held this position until 2008.
Leading Important Organizations
In 1994, Clarisa began working for Fundación Chile 21. This was a "think tank," which is a group of experts who do research and suggest ideas for public policy. This think tank was founded by Ricardo Lagos, who later became president. Clarisa was in charge of workshops about social affairs. In 1996, she became the coordinator of the Social Affairs Department there. At the same time, she also advised the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
In 2000, Clarisa became the Executive Director of Fundación Chile 21. She also joined an advisory committee for the National Women's Service (Sernam), an organization that works to support women. She stayed in these roles until 2005.
In 2014, after Michelle Bachelet was elected president again, Clarisa Hardy was named the Executive Director of another progressive think tank called Fundación Dialoga.
