Clayton is a small village located in Adams County, Illinois, United States. In 2020, about 639 people lived there. This was a bit less than the 709 people who lived there in 2010. Clayton is part of the larger Quincy area, which includes nearby towns and cities.

History of Clayton
Clayton got its name from a famous politician from Kentucky named Henry Clay. The village was officially started in the year 1834.
