Clifford E. Brubaker was born in Muncie, Indiana, on December 23, 1938. He studied hard and earned his Ph.D. degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oregon in 1968. Exercise physiology is the study of how the body works during exercise.

Career Highlights

After finishing his studies, Brubaker became a professor at the University of Virginia in 1971. There, he helped lead a special center that focused on making wheelchairs better for people.

In 1991, he became the Dean of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.
