Clio (formerly, Wash) is a small community in Plumas County, California, United States. It is known as a census-designated place, which means it's a specific area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes. Clio is located about 23 miles (37 km) southeast of Quincy. In 2020, 77 people lived there.

What's in a Name? The Story of Clio
Clio used to be called Wash. A post office with the name "Wash" first opened in 1875.
Around 1905, people in the community decided to change the name. They thought "Wash" sounded too much like another town called Washington, which was in a different county. The new name, Clio, was suggested by the local Postmaster, Fred King. He got the idea from the name written on a heating stove he was looking at.

Clio is found in Plumas County, California. Its exact location is 39°44′42″N 120°34′17″W / 39.74500°N 120.57139°W.
The community covers a total area of about 0.6 square miles (1.5 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large lakes or rivers within its boundaries.
