Clodine (pronounced KLOH-deen) is a small, unincorporated community in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. In 1990, about 31 people lived there. Clodine is part of the larger Greater Houston area, which is a big city in Texas.

A Look Back: Clodine's History

Clodine first started in the 1880s. It began as a stop for the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. The community was named after a railroad official named Clodine King.

By 1893, Clodine had its own post office. In 1896, the community had a general store and a Baptist church. About 50 people lived there at that time.

In 1914, Clodine had phone and telegraph connections, but its population had dropped to 25 residents. The number of people living there changed over time. It went down to 10 in 1925, then grew to 70 four years later.

In 1934, another railroad company bought the San Antonio and Aransas Pass line. They removed the train station and other railroad buildings. By 1936, Clodine had a factory and several businesses. In 1947, about 50 people lived in Clodine. It was a place where local farms and an oil field would ship their goods. By 1990, the population was around 31 residents.

In 2001, George Bush High School opened nearby. In 2003, the old railroad tracks were removed to make way for a new road called the Westpark Tollway. This tollway was built in 2005. A shopping center was also built near the tollway on FM 1093. In 2008, the old Clodine General Store was moved because Farm to Market Road 1464 was being made wider.

On January 9, 2012, a small tornado, called an F1 tornado, hit Clodine. It caused some damage to several houses. One house had a lot of roof damage, and ten others had minor roof damage. Some fences were also knocked down.

The Cartwright-McCrary House is an important historic building in Clodine.
