Clodoaldo Tavares de Santana, known simply as Clodoaldo, is a famous Brazilian former football player. He was born on September 25, 1949. Clodoaldo played as a defensive midfielder, which means he helped protect his team's goal. He is best known for his amazing skills and for being part of the winning Brazilian team in the 1970 FIFA World Cup.

Playing for Clubs
Clodoaldo spent most of his playing career with the Brazilian club Santos. He played there for many years, from 1966 to 1979. During his time at Santos, he helped the team win many important titles.
He won the Campeonato Paulista five times with Santos. This is a big state championship in Brazil. He also helped them win the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1968. This is the top national league in Brazil. Another big win was the 1968 Intercontinental Supercup.
Later in his career, Clodoaldo faced a serious knee injury. Because of this, he left Santos in 1979. He then played for the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the United States for one season. After that, he returned to Brazil and played for Nacional-AM.
Playing for Brazil
Clodoaldo was a very important player for the Brazilian national team. He played 38 games for Brazil between 1969 and 1974.
His biggest achievement was being part of the Brazil squad that won the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. This team is often called one of the greatest football teams ever. In the semi-final match against Uruguay, Clodoaldo scored a goal that helped Brazil tie the game.
He also made a memorable play in the final match against Italy. He dribbled past four opposing players in his own half of the field. This amazing dribble led to a famous goal scored by his teammate Carlos Alberto Torres. This moment showed Clodoaldo's incredible skill and vision on the field.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing football, Clodoaldo briefly became a coach. In 1982, he coached his former club, Santos.
Much later, in 2010, he took on a new challenge. He became the manager of the East Timor national team. However, he left this position after only three matches due to family reasons.
