Clutter Nutters was a fun children's TV show from the UK. It first aired in 2006 on the CBBC Channel. The show was all about helping kids tidy their messy bedrooms! Two young contestants would compete to see who could get rid of the most "clutter" and win a cool prize. They also got a surprise bedroom makeover!

How to Beat the Clutter
This game show had a clear goal: help kids clear out their messy rooms! Here's how the show worked:
- Step 1: Clear it out! First, all the stuff from the contestant's bedroom was taken out.
- Step 2: Weigh the mess! All the items that were cleared out were weighed. This showed just how much clutter there was!
- Step 3: Keep or Lose? Contestants then sorted their items into two piles. One pile was for things they wanted to keep (called "Love it"). The other pile was for things they wanted to get rid of (called "Lose it").
- Step 4: Reduce the "Lose It" Pile! Next, contestants had to find ways to get rid of items from their "Lose it" pile. This often involved selling things. They might try selling items at a market, holding a yard sale, or even using a computer for an online auction.
- Step 5: Recycle or Donate! Anything they couldn't sell was sorted again. This time, they made piles for items that could be recycled and items that could be donated to others.
- Step 6: Throw it Away! Things that were broken or couldn't be used anymore (like old coloring books or broken toys) were thrown away. These items went into a special bin called "Colin the Dustbin," which was like a "clutter compactor."
- Step 7: Final Weigh-in! After all that work, the remaining items (the "Love it" pile) were weighed again.
- Step 8: Who Wins? The contestant who managed to get rid of the most "clutter" won a special prize! This was usually tickets to a fun event, like the theatre or a football game.
- Step 9: Room Makeover! No matter who won, both contestants got a surprise bedroom makeover from the presenters!
There were also some funny "forfeits." If a contestant didn't sell or donate enough clutter, they might get stuck with two heavy 5 kg teddy bears!
Selling Your Stuff
A big part of the show was selling items from the "Lose it" pile. Each contestant tried their best to earn the most money. This helped them avoid those heavy teddy bear forfeits! Ways to sell included:
- Online auctions
- Car boot sales
- Yard sales
- Traditional auctions
- Selling at a market
Recycle and Donate Time
After selling, contestants had three minutes to sort their remaining "Lose it" items. They had to decide what could be recycled and what could be donated. The contestant with the least amount of stuff left over in this round also risked getting a 5 kg teddy bear!
The Weigh-in
There were two important weigh-ins in the show:
- First Weigh-in: This happened at the very beginning. All the clutter from the bedroom was weighed. The total weight was often compared to a large animal, like a panda or a jaguar, to show just how much stuff there was!
- Final Weigh-in: This was the exciting moment at the end! The "Love it" piles were weighed to see who had gotten rid of the most clutter and won the game.
Awesome Prizes
The winner of Clutter Nutters received a cool prize. This was often an experience, like tickets to a football match or another fun outing. Plus, both the winner and the runner-up got a fantastic surprise bedroom makeover!
Meet the Characters
- Colin: This was the name of the special dustbin used to throw away unusable items. He was like a "clutter compactor"!
- 5 kg teddies: These were the funny "forfeits" or penalties. If contestants didn't do well in certain tasks, they might end up with these heavy teddy bears!
Mini Clutter Nutters
There was also a shorter version of the show called Mini Clutter Nutters. These mini-episodes usually gave viewers helpful tips on how to sell their own unwanted items.
The Presenters
The show was hosted by two friendly presenters who guided the contestants through the clutter-clearing process and revealed the amazing room makeovers!
- Nigel Clarke
- Hannah Sandling
