Coinco is a town and commune in Chile. It is located in the O'Higgins Region and is part of the Cachapoal Province. A "commune" is like a local area with its own government.
In 2012, a count of the people, called a census, showed that about 6,709 people lived in Coinco. The commune covers an area of 98.2 square kilometers (about 37.9 square miles).

Coinco's Population and People
A census helps us understand how many people live in a place. In 2002, the National Statistics Institute counted 6,385 people living in Coinco. This included 3,293 men and 3,092 women.
Most people in Coinco, about 4,102 (64.2%), lived in urban areas. Urban areas are like towns or cities. The remaining 2,283 people (35.8%) lived in rural areas, which are more like the countryside. Between 1992 and 2002, Coinco's population grew by 9.7%. This means 562 more people moved to or were born in Coinco during that time.
How Coinco is Governed
Coinco is a "commune," which is a local administrative division in Chile. It is managed by a municipal council. This council helps make decisions for the town. The head of the council is called an alcalde, which is like a mayor. The alcalde is chosen directly by the people in an election every four years.
From 2008 to 2012, the alcalde of Coinco was Gregorio Valenzuela.
